Required for September 2021

Walhampton is an independent preparatory day and boarding school for 370 boys and girls aged 3-13. The school lies in beautiful ancient woodland on the southern edge of the New Forest in Hampshire.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic Deputy Head (Pastoral) to support Walhampton’s strong ethos and drive forward the wellbeing agenda.  This position provides a unique leadership opportunity to shape a school and play a key role in bringing clarity and coherence to the educational offering.

The Deputy Head (Pastoral) is a member of the Senior Leadership Team.  You will also have overall responsibility for the development and implementation of all pastoral policies and practices and be the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.  As Deputy Head you may be called upon to deputise for the Head on occasion and will also have line management responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be a well-qualified graduate with significant professional experience (with at least some of this in schools).  Experience in safeguarding and/or pastoral care in a leadership or management capacity is essential as well as experience of working with young people.

You should have a passion for education and a willingness to contribute to the overall life and wellbeing of the school.

Candidates wishing to apply should complete an application form and send a letter of application demonstrating how they meet the appointment criteria. All applications will be acknowledged and assessed against this criteria.

References will be taken up prior to interview unless a specific request has been made to the contrary.

Longlist interviews will take place at the school on 1st and 2nd March 2021 (Provisional)

Shortlist interviews will take place at the school on 11th and 12th March 2021 (Provisional)
