We are now looking for an outstanding schoolmaster or schoolmistress to join our Prep School Senior Leadership Team as Deputy Head Pastoral. This role will involve overall responsibility for the everyday running of the school and pastoral and extra-curricular life. The successful candidate will be a very able administrator and organiser who is an excellent communicator. This post may well suit someone who wishes to move onto Headship in due course.  

Gresham’s is situated in the Georgian town of Holt and sits within 200 acres of glorious countryside. Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty with the Norfolk Broads and the North Norfolk Coast just a few miles away. The Prep School, which covers Years 3 to 8, has its own spacious and well-resourced site just outside Holt Town Centre. We are a happy and vibrant community of around 250 pupils and 40 staff. We pride ourselves on providing a forward looking and exciting education, which focuses on long term aims and puts the happiness and well-being of our pupils at the centre of all we do. The School has both boarding and day pupils and runs an extended school day and a vast range of sporting and co-curricular opportunities. 

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute fully to the extensive co-curricular life of the school and it is vital that he or she embraces the holistic nature of the school’s approach and our commitment to providing a broad and far-reaching educational experience for our pupils. A sense of humour, a readiness to laugh and enjoy working here is very important.

About Gresham's School

Gresham’s is a co-educational boarding and day school for children aged 2-18. It is situated in the Georgian town of Holt in beautiful countryside, just three miles from the breathtaking North Norfolk coast.

The school was founded in 1555 by Sir John Gresham who forged close ties with The Worshipful Company of Fishmongers. On his death, he left the school in their care and strong links with them and the City of London remain to this day.

The school enjoys a generous campus with excellent facilities including a state-of-the-art music building (Britten) with its own recording studio, indoor and outdoor performance spaces including a theatre (Auden), multi-surface sports pitches, tennis courts, swimming pool, sports hall and shooting range. The Dyson Building opened at Gresham’s in September 2021. Sir James Dyson, a former pupil at the school, enabled the innovative new centre for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education.

The school has an impressive list of Old Greshamians including the composer Benjamin Britten, the poet WH Auden, Oscar winning actress Olivia Colman and international rugby players Tom and Ben Youngs, to name but a few.
