You will be an outstanding teacher with significant experience teaching pupils within the pre-prep and prep age range.  You should have an understanding of modern educational developments and a willingness to contribute to the wider areas of school life.

Working collaboratively with the Deputy Head (responsible for the Prep School) and the Director of Studies you should be a strategic thinker and be confident to lead change.  We are looking for a candidate who wants to and is excited to act as a pioneer in developing new initiatives and innovative pedagogy.

Rowan is a happy, friendly and nurturing girls’ day school (Nursery – Year 6) based on two sites.  Early Years and Key Stage 1 are based at Rowan Brae and Key Stage 2 at Rowan Hill.  At Rowan Brae, each class has its own room where general subjects are taught.  A specialist music and technology suite and library are available for use.  The sports’ grounds at Hinchley Wood and Oaken Lane are used for Games lessons and matches.

Being a staff member of Rowan Preparatory School means that you will be joining a dedicated team of 80 staff who are committed and passionate about girls’ education.  The team is supportive and forward thinking, yet mindful of work/life balance.  There are excellent opportunities for professional development linked to your personal ambitions and moving the school forward.  Rowan is a happy, friendly and nurturing school where staff enjoy coming to work and being part of the Rowan family.

Rowan is a member of the United Learning group and shares the objective of bringing out the ‘best in everyone’, enabling each pupil to become a balanced, happy and articulate person with the intellectual freedom to be creative; confidence to initiate; flexibility to respond to challenge, change and adversity; compassion to serve others, spirit to enjoy life; integrity to be trustworthy; and motivation to have a lifelong love of learning.

The closing date for applications is 18 April 2018 with interviews being held week commencing 23 April.  Informal visits to the school can be arranged.

Rowan Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure Barring Service.
