The Deputy Head Standards and Co-curricular is responsible to the Head Teacher in all matters relating to the logistics and events of the school.

Overall Responsibilities of the Deputy Head Standards and Co-curricular

The Deputy Head Standards and Co-curricular will, as part of the SLT, attend SLT/SMT meetings (and during holiday time where needed, given reasonable notice) to discuss current issues, consider the whole school improvements and carry out duties arising from such meetings.

Core responsibilities

The Deputy Head Standards and Co-curricular will work in conjunction with the Deputy Head Pastoral, Deputy Head Academic and Head Teacher to ensure the smooth running of school and the rigorous overseeing of improved school initiatives.

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications, experience and skills:

Academic

• Qualified teacher status with a good honours degree.

Experience

• Proven experience of working in senior or middle leadership roles within a similar sized school.

• Breadth of experience within the 4-11 age range and a thorough knowledge of the National and 11+ curriculum requirements.

• Evidence of leading and managing staff including building successful team and school culture.

• Evidence of being an excellent and innovative classroom practitioner.

• Experience in policy development implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

• Experience with ISI inspections.

• Evidence of excellent IT competency.

• Understanding of budget management and financial planning.

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent time management and administration skills.

• Creative flair.

• Strong attention to detail

• Excellent interpersonal skills.

• Willing and able to take the initiative.

• Able to plan, monitor, evaluate, audit and review proactively.

Manor Lodge is a co-educational school with approximately 450 pupils ranging from 3-11 years old. We have outstanding academic success and a strong reputation for STEAM as well as music, drama and sport.

More Than Just Lessons

The most important reason for going to school is to learn. However, we know that there is more to school than just lessons, and we provide an extensive range of clubs and activities for the children to try.

We take all our children, in their year groups, to a wide range of places of interest and fun which are related to the topic work that they do.

We also encourage our children to consider others less fortunate than themselves by raising money for charity.

The School is registered as an Eco School, we have a team of children from Year 1 to Year 6 who meet regularly with staff, parents and advisers from the University of Hertfordshire to discuss and plan projects which will increase our sustainability and thereby reduce wastage and subsequently costs.
