or Washwood Heath Academy, Burney Lane, Stechford, Birmingham, B8 2AS

Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust is committed to the development of all staff and, as a result of recent promotions within the Trust, is in a position to appoint three permanent Deputy Headteachers, plus two temporary.

This comes at an exciting time within our development of Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust, a family of 7 schools (one all-through, two secondaries and four primaries) serving the East of Birmingham. We believe that we are stronger working in partnership to serve the children and families of our community.

Saltley Academy (11-16; 1111 on roll) is a vibrant, innovative, forward-looking academy with a reputation in the city for its work as a UNICEF Gold Rights Respecting School, developing an approach to raising academic standards in a culture which promotes the holistic development of each child and each staff member. The school is expanding, with a multi-million pound new development about to be built. There is one permanent post, as a result of retirement, and one temporary post due to a promotion, available at this academy, which was graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted in February 2018.

Tile Cross Academy (11-16; 600 PAN) is a small, unique and inclusive academy. We joined the Trust in May 2017 and are making great strides in our development to raise standards and increase the quality of education through an exciting and personalised curriculum. Tile Cross is a flourishing school, ready to take on new initiatives and we are currently in the process of an exciting site development which will support the teaching of sport, science and technology. The successful candidate will be joining a dynamic team in a temporary post created as the result of the promotion of the present post-holder.

Washwood Heath Academy (4-18; 1650 PAN) became an all through school in 2017 with a reception and year 3/4 class and will continue to grow over the next few years. The successful candidates will be joining the school at an exciting time; the new state-of-the-art primary facility opened in February 2019 and we are currently implementing a knowledge rich curriculum and approach to teaching and learning, to raise academic standards and enrichment opportunities. The post 16 facilities of the school and range of qualifications are also being developed in line with the increased student population.

Following promotions, the Academy is now seeking two permanent deputy headteachers.

You will have the ability to implement improvement throughout the Academy and have a passion for raising standards and encouraging pupils to develop a love of learning.

The successful candidates will:

• Promote a love of lifelong learning

• Have excellent leadership, organisational and management skills

• Demonstrate the ability to build on success and manage change

• Show commitment to a culture of continuous improvement that promotes excellence for staff and pupils alike and builds on our current Ofsted rating

• Demonstrate excellent inter-personal and communication skills with the ability to articulate a clear vision for the through school and support positive relationships across the Trust

• Contribute significantly to the wider development of all schools within the Trust

We can offer you:

• Enthusiastic, well behaved learners who engage positively with school life

• A hard-working,  motivated and engaged staff and governors, who care deeply about the outcomes for children and young people

• A culture of support for all staff

Currently we are a family of 7 schools (3 Secondary and 4 Primary). ‘We are stronger working together in partnership’ is the underlying principle and moral purpose of the WHMAT. We are a family of schools serving a discrete community within this great city of Birmingham. The schools are fully inclusive and serve a very rich and diverse community of cultures and faiths. Each of the schools is unique in its own identity but the strong links between the schools has enabled high quality collaboration to ensure the continued successes of everyone in the partnership.
