We wish to appoint an outstanding Primary Practitioner with a proven track-record of teaching excellence to become our lead for Teaching and Learning & Safeguarding and Attendance. You will be an existing senior leader, potentially at Assistant Head level in a primary school keen to work to improve outcomes at our school and potentially in a wider-ranging capacity across the MAT. You will help to inspire our committed and supportive team modelling and leading the improvement of teaching skills to raise student achievement to all groups and to narrow any gaps in attainment.

Your focus will be specifically on raising attainment and accelerating progress across the curriculum with a particular focus in reading, writing and maths at all key stages, by working with teachers and support staff. You will have no formal timetable of your own but will be expected to support colleagues to deliver theirs to the very highest standards and be open-minded to step in and support with teaching from time to time. This is a unique, exciting opportunity for career development towards headship.

As this is a pivotal role within our Trust, we can accommodate an April or September 2017 start for the right candidate, dependent on current employment commitments.

Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust was formed in November 2014 and comprises four academies: Washwood Heath Academy, Brownmead Academy, Saltley Academy and Gossey Lane Academy.

The successful candidate will be based at Gossey Lane Academy B33 0DS. Gossey Lane is a successful and vibrant one-form entry primary academy with 228 pupils on roll and is situated in the suburb of Kitts Green which is to the east of Birmingham and has direct links to the M42 and M5 motorways, offering ease of commuting.

Our academy motto is “Together we ASPIRE” and this is central to our philosophy.

As well as completing the application form attached, candidates are asked to outline their own philosophy of primary education and leadership, their experience, their expertise and specific skills, abilities and the qualities they would bring to our school (in line with the person specification) on no more than two pages of A4.
