The post of Deputy Head (Teaching and Innovation) is a new and exciting one. The post-holder will work to ensure that the School’s educational provision reflects the rapidly evolving requirements of the 21st century, with a particular focus on the use of technology to support teaching and learning, and the development across the pupil body of a skill base that supports both progression to university and future employability.
The Deputy Head (Teaching and Innovation) will have overall responsibility for the curriculum, as well as for the implementation of relevant parts of the School’s Strategic Plan (which is currently being reviewed). They will ensure that there is continued excellence, reflection and development amongst the teaching staff as a body of educational professionals. Taking advantage of the School’s enviable location and diverse pupil body, and with the heart of the capital’s economic infrastructure on our doorstep, the post-holder will be in a position to have a substantive impact on the way in which our pupils are prepared for their lives beyond school.
As a Deputy Head, the post-holder will be asked to advise on all matters of school policy, procedure and routine, sharing broad operational and strategic responsibility for the management of the School and for its development. She or he may be required to deputise for the Head during term, or during school holidays.
The successful applicant will have a proven record of success as both a teacher and a manager. They will be committed to defining “education” in the broadest terms, and will have demonstrated that commitment through their co-curricular and supra-curricular contributions. They will be able to think creatively, communicate effectively and manage change.
