Job overview
Queensbridge Primary School is a very happy, thriving two form entry with 440 children, a Children’s Centre and an Autism Resource Provision. In November 2019 we remained outstanding in our Ofsted rating and in March 2012 became a National Support School with Sarah Bailey OBE, the Head Teacher, as a National Leader of Education. Our Children’s Centre Mapledene is also Ofsted Early Years and Extended Services ‘outstanding’ for work in the local community. Queensbridge has a longstanding relationship with UCL (was IOE) and is a Specialist Partner for Initial Teacher Training. As a designated National Teaching School up until August 2021 (Future Stars) we hold many significant awards including ArtsMark Platinum, music, EYFS, DSR and computing. We are highly creative and love performing arts- we have strong links to performing arts locally and nationally for enrichment. We are highly inclusive and are a lead South East of England Restorative Justice school. We also lead the Reading Hub and work with DFE to help outside London with Recruitment and Retention in Norwich and Suffolk as a Teaching school. We have run with several projects for the DFE: ‘mark less, mark better’ (teacher workload reduction for staff well-being), retrieval practice projects, and much work researched on cognitive load theory- so if you join us you must be innovative and forward thinking!
We have a challenging intake of children and are highly inclusive in our practice. We do not rest on our laurels! We have an established Head but hope to bring in some new experience and fresh ideas to work alongside our team.
We are looking to appoint a strong, dynamic, enthusiastic, committed and creative full time and permanent Deputy Head, term time only to join our leadership team, teaching 2.5 days a week.
Our ideal candidate will be an outstanding teacher and a strategic leader with a resilient character and a strong personal drive. The ideal candidate will also:
- Have a proven experience of positively impacting on children’s progress and raising attainment and developing excellence – teaching and learning standards
- Be innovative and forward thinking
- Be fully committed to the Queensbridge ethos of high expectations and inclusive practice
- Have the drive to make a real difference to the lives of pupils and community
- Lead on teaching and learning alongside the Head Teacher
- Be the Strategic Lead and oversee Inclusion alongside the ARP Lead Practitioner
- Be responsible for pupil premium/ behaviour/ DSL/ CP / EAL support
- Support the HT with HR and operational day to day management of the school
Visits to the school are highly encouraged.
