Job overview

Rossall School is a thriving HMC boarding and day school with a broad international outlook and a stunning campus overlooking the sea.

We seek to appoint an inspirational and innovative leader to fill this key role at Rossall.

This position represents an outstanding opportunity for a suitably dynamic, experienced and highly-qualified professional, with excellent leadership skills, who can work closely with the Head to raise standards, improve student outcomes and further increase aspirations.

The Deputy Head (Teaching and Learning) will be responsible for ensuring that the professional development of staff continues to support the provision of an outstanding quality of teaching and learning throughout the school. He or she will be responsible for developing and nurturing the School’s critically reflective culture which is progressive and resolutely ‘outward-facing’. It is a culture predicated upon the sharing of good practice and an uncompromising commitment towards ensuring that all pupils at Rossall School fulfil their academic potential.

He or she will be responsible for driving forward strategies designed to further improve teaching and learning at Rossall School. He/she will focus upon a combination of ongoing tasks, such as the induction and professional development of teachers and the coordination of enrichment programmes for pupils, as well as contributing to specific teaching and learning initiatives agreed upon by the SLT (such as the implementation of the School’s evolving digital strategy). As well as engagement with, and management, of such whole school projects, he or she will work closely with individual teachers and Heads of Departments on a day-to-day basis within a coaching/advisory capacity.

He or she will be a dynamic and creative individual with drive and enthusiasm, determined to exert a positive impact upon the overall effectiveness of teaching and learning at Rossall School.
