Job overview

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head to make a significant contribution to the school’s strategic development, and to the smooth day-to-day operation of the school as well as modelling outstanding teaching. The post offers the right candidate a wonderful opportunity to have a significant impact on the future of the school and will be attractive to someone who would really like to make their mark, with strong support and career development available.

 The role is to assist the Head in managing the school, undertaking any professional duty assigned by the Head including the Head’s own duties in her absence and to oversee the day to day running of the school, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team.

 We are looking for a candidate who:

  • Is a qualified teacher with significant experience and knowledge of education
  • Has or is working towards an NPQSL.
  • Senior or middle leadership experience is required, as is a collaborative approach to work and a proven ability to motivate and support others.
  • Has good organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrates a desire to continue to extend their knowledge and is committed to their own professional development
  • Has teaching experience across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
  • Is an ambitious and innovative teacher, dedicated to the success of their learners, with the desire to inspire pupils
  • Shows commitment, motivation and relentless drive for standards of excellence, creativity and continuous improvement in practice
  • Has excellent communication skills: ability to listen, empathise and understand needs of others
  • Has the ability to influence and motivate others through a clearly communicated vision, inspiring trust
  • Has the ability to clearly demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to promoting the welfare of young people
  • Has Level 2 Safeguarding DSL course (desirable)

Upton House School is a independent co-educational preparatory school in Windsor, Berkshire. The school was first opened in 1936, and is located on a one acre site in the centre of Windsor. In 2008 the two-storey facility Little Upton was opened, containing pre-nursery and nursery rooms with access to an outdoor play area. There are approximately 295 students on the school roll. Upton House is denominationally Christian, and is a registered charity.
