Job overview
“Aspire Alternative Provision have an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our Medical Provision team in a lead role working with vulnerable students who are unable to access their mainstream education due to mental health difficulties.”
About us: Aspire Alternative Provision is a Multi-Academy Trust spread over five sites in High Wycombe, Chesham and Aylesbury. Aspire provides 'outstanding' alternative educational provision and support for secondary age students. Aspire Medical Provision students attend part-time and are referred to us by schools and by CAMHS (the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service). Our focus is on supporting these young people to experience success in education and facilitating a return back into appropriate full-time education. We want to develop a model of excellence of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Aspire schools.
About the role: This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and industrious individual to lead one of our medical provision sites.
Given the nature of our provision we require someone who demonstrates creative and flexible thinking, a real passion for effecting positive change for our students, a great deal of both empathy and patience and a willingness to roll up their sleeves and do what needs to be done in order to ensure that students are provided with the optimum environment in which to flourish.
As Deputy of Aspire Medical Provision (AMP), the role also includes supporting teaching and learning and SEND across AMP, working with the other Medical Provision Leads.
We also seek a candidate who can bring knowledge and experience of developing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
About you: We want to find people who share our values and ethos. We want to hire people who believe that young people who are unable to access education due to mental health difficulties need a nurturing and loving approach, to feel valued and cared for, and to have teachers who believe in them.
We know this work isn't always easy. We want to hire people who can be calm in the face of challenging and potentially upsetting circumstances, and who will always see the best in a young person, and find something to love in them, no matter what.
We have high expectations of our young people, in terms of their behaviour, social development, and academic achievement. We know that young people who have been unable to access their full time educational provision often have complex backgrounds, and/or a number of unmet special educational needs. When they receive the right support, they are capable of great things.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and education of our students and expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check and references will be required along with the completion of a Health Questionnaire.
Aspire has been recognised by Ofsted as “Outstanding”. We are proud of our achievements and our students thrive in small teaching groups and a safe learning environment
