Job overview

Deputy Headteacher (Academic).

Competitive remuneration and ongoing progression. Suited to an experienced Assistant Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher.

Tes is currently supporting a friendly and supportive Secondary Academy, based in Birmingham. The school is looking to add a Deputy Headteacher to their progressive and supportive Academy ideally starting in September 2021 or earlier.

As Deputy Headteacher you will lead by example. You will have strategic oversight over Teaching and Learning, Curriculum, Data & Assessment and whole school CPD and alongside the Headteacher will lead from the front to ensure continuous development. You will model outstanding leadership and set high expectations and aspirations for students and staff.

The academy has a high level of pupil premium so this role would be ideal for someone who is passionate about improving education for all and closing the gap for disadvantaged students. You will lead improvements from the front and will continue to evolve Academy's strategy to ensure we are supporting achievements for all.

“You will take the strategic lead for the academic development of the school, being accountable for pupil outcomes and monitoring the quality of provision.  You will lead a team of Assistant Principals, who in turn lead departments. A key part of your role is driving up standards of teaching and learning through an effective framework of staff development.  You will lead curriculum development and implementation, along with assessment, providing data analysis that informs targeted interventions.

Your specific responsibilities will be agreed annually and may change, to allow you the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of academy’s leadership in preparation for Headship.

The School

The academy is a growing school serving its local community – a school that meets the needs of each of its students and has the highest expectations of every one of them to do well. In September 2017, we became an all-through academy, admitting children from Reception to Year 11 and has improved both academically and in the provision we provide. We want to transform the life chances of every student who comes to this school. We focus on academic excellence and make sure that every child achieves their potential in subjects that will serve them well beyond school. ”

The school is offering:

• A super supportive and highly visible network team and Secondary Director;

• on-going CPD with programmes of study such as NPQEL and MA in Educational Leadership

• progression support throughout the school and wider group

• support package for Senior Leaders including support from the Trust, Headteacher and Secondary Director

• the chance to take on further responsibility such as Leadership roles in the future.

The school expects:

• A UK teaching qualification such as PGCE/PGDE, SCITT, BEd or MEd with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• a relevant Education or relevant Degree

• experience of leading whole school Curriculum and Teaching and Learning

• demonstrated impact as a Senior Leader ideally as an Assistant or Deputy Principal

• a love and passion for education.
