Ofsted Report Dec 2023

Hallmoor School is looking for a new Deputy Headteacher who shares their excitement about the next stage of development, building on its success and continuing its positive journey to excellence. You will play a critical role in driving the school forwards by working with an experienced Headteacher and a talented and caring staff team.

Hallmoor is a special school for pupils aged 5 to 19. All of our pupils have an EHCP and their range of needs includes; moderate / severe learning difficulties, autism and communication difficulties. The school is committed to ensuring that all pupils achieve their full potential. We work closely with speech and language therapists and occupational therapists to ensure that pupils access therapeutic interventions. The school staff team includes a Family Support Worker and a Counsellor who contribute to our support for families and carers. Our pupils access vocational opportunities from local colleges as part of their preparation for adulthood and independence.

The number on roll has increased from 250 to 275 in recent years with further growth expected. The school has been through significant change and improvement in recent years culminating in it being graded as ‘Good’ in December 2023.

The school is part of Forward Education Trust (FET), an established and developing MAT of 7 special schools in Birmingham, Solihull and Sandwell. The Trust believes that its staff and leaders are its most important asset and that valuing them and utilising their many talents will deliver the best experiences for pupils. You will be empowered to make decisions and to be creative. You will join supportive and well-established collaborative networks, where colleagues support each other and learn from each other. The Trust will have a real interest in your future and will be keen to explore ways that you can develop personally and professionally.

The successful candidate will be an exemplary leader and teacher with leadership experience of working in either special or mainstream education. Experience of teaching pupils with complex learning difficulties and of having worked with different age groups would be useful and you must be ambitious for all learners, whatever their additional needs. You must have the ability to initiate and lead change in a positive way which makes a real difference to learning and above all, share the school’s commitment to ensuring the students are safe and happy and achieve their full potential.
