The Governing Body seek exceptional, talented, innovative and inspirational leaders with a proven track record of school improvement to join our Senior Leadership Team. The opportunities arise from a restructure following the departure of two outstanding senior colleagues who have secured promotions as Headteacher and Vice Principal in two other Cornwall schools from September 2019.
Proposed job descriptions can be found in the Application Pack but final responsibilities will depend on the complementary skills, expertise and experience of the two successful candidates. You will have a clear vision of what excellence looks like and possess the drive and tenacity to put this vision into action to ensure the best possible outcomes for all students.
Humphry Davy is a truly comprehensive community in which every child is cared for, supported and stretched. The school has a long-standing well-deserved reputation for its caring approach that values individuals and an ethos which encourages, supports and develops students of all abilities. The challenge is to ensure the standard of care never falls, whilst student outcomes continue to rise.
Each role is a great opportunity to build or extend a leadership profile towards headship at our popular and over-subscribed school in beautiful West Cornwall. Ofsted (Short Inspection November 2016) judged the school as ‘good’ stating, “Across the school we found that pupils were very keen to learn. Pupils we spoke with enjoy coming to school and feel that they are making good progress. Pupils are well-mannered and keen to tell visitors how good the school is and how it keeps them safe”.
I hope very much that the information we have provided, together with our website, will give you all you require to make an application and give you a sense why Humphry Davy School is currently oversubscribed and a fabulous place to work. If you are an outstanding classroom practitioner with the interpersonal skills to motivate and inspire others and a personal commitment to drive an ethos of continuous improvement then we want to hear from you. The successful candidate can be assured of our full support with their future professional and career development.
