Bolton Muslim Girls’ school is an 11-16 Faith Academy with an Islamic ethos having over 720 learners on roll. It is a successful non-selective maintained school and it is placed in the top 10% of school’s nationally based on progress. 

The main focus of this post will be to lead on Curriculum and Standards and will include the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead. The applicant is expected to demonstrate substantial leadership experience of being an excellent classroom practitioner with a proven track record of success at Key Stage 3 & 4.

  • and being able to demonstrate successful curriculum development.
  • a substantial leadership experience and have held the position of Assistant Headteacher previously.

The successful candidate will enhance our curriculum provisions which in turn will impact successfully on teaching and learning to enrich each child’s whole school experience. Our learners are welcoming and friendly and educationally many come from disadvantaged backgrounds.  We had an Ofsted visit in Dec 2022 and school has been judged Requires Improvement. The new Ofsted framework emphasise more on a rich and varied curriculum and how it is taught than pupil progress and attainment in GCSEs. Regardless of current Ofsted grading of Requires Improvement, the school has continued to maintain its ranking in the top 20% nationally for Progress 8. The school’s GCSE results have been top of the borough for the last five consecutive years. The school has a track record of sustainable school improvements, and are looking to strengthen our team in the future.

Bolton Muslim Girls’ School is always over-subscribed with first choice applications. To meet with the growing demands for places and due to school’s popularity as a high achieving school, the school had been successful in securing a capital funding for expansion in 2019. The additional capacity resulted in 30 additional places in Yr.7 with effect from 2020. The school will have 750 pupils on roll by September 2024. It is an exciting time at Bolton Muslim Girls’ School. The increased pupil population and recent Ofsted outcome has generated more career opportunities for staff through the review of the current curriculum and staffing structure. We are will continue to expand them further through the development of the third floor and Ground Floor of the Mill Building.

About Bolton Muslim Girls School

Bolton Muslim Girls School, based in Bolton, Lancashire, was founded in 1987 for girls between the age of 11 and 16. In 2007, it transformed from an independent school to a voluntary aided establishment. It gained academy status and is sponsored by the Bolton Muslim Welfare Trust. The school currently educates around 600 students.

Bolton Muslim Girls School aims to go above and beyond when educating each child, by having a stimulating curriculum. Teachers aim to care and help every pupil progress as individuals during their time at the school. The academy hopes for students to progress as individuals, spiritually and academically. Each child is encouraged to “embody all that is good with Islam” by following Muslim rules. Pupils are valued for showing respect to others within, and outside, of the school.
