Deputy Headteacher

The Governing Body of Gibraltar Boys Secondary School wish to appoint an experienced and effective senior leader to the role of Deputy Headteacher to support and assist the Headteacher and thereby secure the best outcome for all students. Commencement date is flexible.

Gibraltar Boys Secondary School is an 11-18 boys only Secondary school situated in the town centre of Gibraltar. The school opened in September 2000 and provides education which reflects the ethos of the Gibraltar Jewish community. GBSS is a small school and benefits from very small class sizes. The school recently expanded its facilities and built an extension to include additional classrooms, a Science Laboratory and Computer Suite.

At GBSS, our focus is child-centred and our main ambition is to ensure that every child achieves their potential. Traditional Jewish values underpin everything that we do. Students are expected to display the highest standards of behaviour and show respect for themselves, others and the world around them. Developing positive relationships and taking pride in all aspects of school life are what makes GBSS special.

As Deputy Headteacher you would be key to overseeing the curriculum delivery, monitor outcomes achieved, ensure the curriculum is relevant, appropriate and challenging for all students. The outcomes the curriculum delivers should enable our students to achieve their potential to give them the best chance of success in the future. As GBSS is a small school, teaching duties are also an important part of the role. As Deputy Headteacher, you would be a role model for other teachers and by providing an example of excellence in teaching, help to raise standards across the school. Other responsibilities will reflect the individual skill set of the successful candidate.
