Job overview

Due to the promotion of the previous postholder to headship, we are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced teacher for the post of Deputy Headteacher at one of our Primary Education settings. The successful candidate will contribute to the strategic leadership and management of the school as part of the Senior Leadership Team, and so will contribute to raising the standards of teaching and learning and the progress of all pupils, including the effective leadership and management of provision and resources. They will need to demonstrate strong skills in time management, understanding of the best strategies for improving outcomes, and highly effective people skills in working with pupils, parents, colleagues and external agencies. They will work across the whole school and  specifically lead and manage a team of highly skilled and committed teachers and LSAs within a phase.

The role will include class teaching commitments and working alongside teaching colleagues. The postholder will therefore have a track record of exemplary teaching across a range of year groups and be able to use strong mentoring and coaching skills to further improve the high quality teaching.

The deputy headteacher will take responsibility for curriculum and assessment development, and will therefore need to have evidenced success in leading curriculum development that has led to improved progress outcomes, notably within either literacy or numeracy.

This will be a varied, busy and key role at Castel Primary School, where the successful candidate will be able to make a real difference for the pupils. The successful candidate will work closely with the headteacher, across all aspects of work, to further improve provision.
