Founded in 1956, Simon Marks is a one-form entry Jewish community school that offers an integrated curriculum that celebrates Jewish culture, emphasises Hebrew as a modern foreign language and nurtures intellectual curiosity.
We are a warm and friendly school where children from a variety of backgrounds flourish by working successfully alongside one another. We respect the diversity of the community in which we serve and we make an active contribution both to the Jewish community and wider society. We are fully committed to life-long learning and we provide a multitude of educational opportunities that ensure children achieve their full potential.
We are particularly proud of our school’s well-resourced and spacious learning environment, both indoors and outdoors which also serves to enhance our pupils’ learning experiences.
Our Vision
We aim to inspire intellectual curiosity and to nurture our pupils’ confidence. We set high expectations for behaviour and value creativity, spiritual understanding and the power of imagination, as well as academic and physical achievements.
Simon Marks also aims to prepare children for a changing world through wisdom – ancient and modern – becoming familiar with sophisticated technology while learning from Jewish and British values. Simon Marks is a school where children learn to achieve through working with and helping others, to respect the diversity of the community in which they live and learn, and to contribute to Jewish continuity and the wider society.
Our school is fully creative, using for example, film and digital media to enhance pupils’ learning experiences. We celebrate our diverse heritage with strong links to Israel. We are a school where understanding the past informs our hopes and ambitions for the future.
