Job overview

As Deputy Head Teacher at Pontville School, part of the Witherslack Group, you will have the chance to lead and shape our school and deliver the kind of education you always wanted to. Pontville is an ‘Outstanding’ day and residential school 5 to 19 years supporting children and young people with social communication difficulties as their primary need. Working with the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will set the vision for the future of the school, ensuring that our children and young people secure the very best outcomes possible.

As Deputy Head Teacher you will provide inspirational leadership coupled with strong management and communication skills. That’s why we’re looking for someone who’s pretty unique. Ultimately, you’re an outstanding teacher and leader who has a genuine passion and working knowledge of SEN. But, as importantly, you’re someone who is resilient, innovative and has the type of enthusiasm that’s infectious, so that you bring about change in a positive way. You’re also sensitive, respectfully challenging, patient and kind: just the type of leader our young people, staff and community can relate to.

For children and young people with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. We are a leading provider of specialist education and care for children and young people with communication difficulties (Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Asperger’s Syndrome, Speech, Language and Communication Needs), complex learning needs and challenging behaviours. We have a reputation for excellence and of achieving the highest possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

Pontville School has a history of Outstanding Ofsted inspections both educationally and residentially. With a vibrant and dedicated staff team who put children and young people at the centre of everything they do, Pontville is an amazing place to work. This post comes about due to one of our current Deputy Head Teachers relocating to another Witherslack Group School.

Reward

We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we want to reward you with a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. You’ll receive a competitive salary, teacher’s pension (where applicable) and comprehensive induction and ongoing training, as well as extensive Group staff benefits such as Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, Cycle to Work and tax free childcare vouchers. Witherslack conducts DBS Enhanced checks and covers the costs for all new employees.
