This is an exciting time for the academy and the chance to shape the future direction of travel along with the recently appointed Headteacher. The successful candidate will join a recently established leadership team who are committed to changing the lives of our students at TEMA. This is a critical appointment for our academy and the successful candidate will receive high levels of support and training to be truly effective in this role. This role requires someone who is passionate about curriculum and curriculum development. You will work alongside the headteacher to further enhance the curriculum and entitlement for all students. We wish someone to join the team who understands the importance of curriculum in narrowing achievement gaps and developing the cultural capital and the wider personal development of our students. You will be supported by two assistant headteachers to ensure vision and strategy are translated into excellent learning experiences for students. 

This role will also oversee standards of effectiveness and performance of students. Our ideal candidate will be someone who can not only analyse data but understands what will make a difference to supporting effective performance for both staff and students and work with colleagues in a collaborative way to raise standards in all aspects of the academy’s performance. 

In this role you will ensure all members of staff are supported to be highly effective. You will lead a team of middle and senior leaders to ensure standards of performance are monitored and evaluated. You will support all staff to have access to the highest levels of professional development, support and research to be exceptional in their role whilst cultivating a culture of openness, honesty and professional learning. You will be highly engaged in pedagogical developments and use research to inform all strategy and policy. You will be highly committed to excellence in teaching and ensuring staff can work efficiently and effectively maintain a positive work life balance whilst supporting our team to work together collaboratively securing excellent outcomes for our young people. 

You will make a difference to the whole TEMA community by creating innovative and effective systems and structures and provide professional development and support for all members of staff at all career stages. You will provide vision and strategic leadership to a team committed to improving outcomes for our young people and our community as a whole.  You will have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work with and motivate a wide range of staff, stakeholders and students.  You will be a passionate advocate for students’ learning and development and be relentless in your pursuit of excellence whilst providing high levels of challenge and support. You will work with a wide range of people both internally and externally to develop best practice and supportive relationships which enable staff to ensure students realise their full potential. In return you will benefit from a highly supportive senior leadership team both within the academy and across the trust and have personalised support and development to be exceptional in this role. The academy is part of The Education and Leadership Trust. The Trust is a multi-academy Co-operative Trust, which came into effect in September 2014 comprising three schools; The East Manchester Academy, a mixed school of nearly 1,000 students in the heart of Manchester’s re-generation area, Whalley Range 11-18 High School, a girls school of 1,500 students and Levenshulme High School, a girls school which is three miles away with a very similar, diverse community.

The Trust is a multi-academy trust, which came into effect in September 2022 comprising four schools; The East Manchester Academy, a mixed school of over 1,000 students in the heart of Manchester’s re-generation area, Whalley Range 11-18 High School, a girls school of 1,500 students, Levenshulme High School, a girls school which is three miles away with a very similar, diverse community and Parrs Wood 11-18 High School a mixed school of nearly 2000 students in the heart of East Didsbury.
