Due to the retirement of our current Deputy, the Governing Body is seeking to appoint an inspirational Teacher with proven English and Leadership skills. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced primary leader to have impact on our school at a key point on its improvement trajectory. We are a forward-thinking school, looking for wider opportunities to increase capacity and drive up standards. Ofsted November 2016, graded our Academy ‘Requires Improvement’; we are rapidly moving forward on our journey to ‘Good’ and beyond with positive results expected at the end of the year. The Lead Inspector said we are a school that is ‘ready to fly’.

Hemlington Hall is a vibrant school at the heart of a well-established community, situated South-West of Middlesbrough. The school is proud to provide a well-resourced, stimulating and creative curriculum including effective use of the outdoor learning environment and technology. We have wonderful children with a hardworking and caring teaching and support team. Our proactive Governing Body commits to offering its staff structured CPD opportunities at all levels, in line with the Improvement Plan.

The Governing Body are looking for candidates who can:

  • effectively lead English across the school;
  • work successfully as part of a senior leadership team;
  • demonstrate success in raising standards and meeting challenging targets;
  • scrutinise books and data to ensure that all pupils achieve well;

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • a clear understanding of the English Curriculum for Primary Schools
  • experience of successful curriculum leadership, including monitoring, evaluating and target setting;
  • a clear vision for raising standards through coaching and mentoring colleagues;
  • commitment to ensuring achievement for all through equal access, opportunity and aspiration for all children;
  • a willingness to be involved in a wider school community
  • a strong ethos and commitment to the safety and wellbeing of every child.
