Job overview

Holmwood School is a high performing Primary Special School for pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health and/or a range of significant or complex learning difficulties. We value our position as a service for families of Middlesbrough and the Tees Valley. We are a fully inclusive school and have the expertise and flexibility to help children progress in all areas. The school is well known within the Local Authority for its innovative practices. It is highly valued by the partnerships with which it works and families it supports. In addition, the school runs a successful Extended Services provision from its Community Space for Sports & Arts.

We are now looking for an exceptional and highly motivated Deputy Headteacher to take our school to be outstanding. Ideally you will be able to:

  • Provide inspiration, motivation and vision to take the school forward.
  • Provide a relentless focus on enabling all children to raise their achievement within our learning community and beyond.
  • Maintain and develop the excellent existing relationships within the school and its wider community.
  • Have the capacity to rise to the challenge of monitoring and evaluating all aspects of school life.
  • Have exemplary teaching, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have excellent proven behaviour management skills.
  • “Make us happy, smile and care for us” (Pupils).

Middlesbrough is a fantastic place, proud of its heritage and ambitious enough to shape an entirely different future. It has set out its city-scale plans to deliver over £600 million of investment that will promote economic growth and strengthen both its regional and national reputation as a destination of choice.

It is also developing creative and ambitious plans that will deliver positive social regeneration outcomes. Working with its partners it will reduce inequality and improve life chances for its residents. It is brave enough to set itself targets that are challenging, understanding that it may not achieve them all. It will, however be defined by its own success – not the outcomes it does not fully achieve.

Visits to the school are advised and can be arranged by contacting Nanette Bird on 01642 819157.

An application form is available to download from https://www.northeastjobs.org.uk and should be returned by email to recruitment@xentrall.org.uk or by post to Xentrall Recruitment, PO Box 891, Stockton-on-Tees, TS19 1JT.

Closing Date: 12 pm on Wednesday 10 May 2017

Interviews will be held on Friday 19 May 2017
