Job overview

Deputy Head Teacher (non-class based)

Required 1st September 2017

Salary Range: L15 – 19 (£58,138 - £63,830)

Do you want to make a difference to the lives of our children?

Our children would like a Deputy Headteacher who is “a really good teacher”, who “knows how to help us to learn well” and who is “fun, funny but serious when needs to be”.  If you are also hard-working, dynamic and motivated, we would love to hear from you.

St Edward’s is a large multicultural Church of England Voluntary Aided school situated just a ten minute walk from the town centre of Romford with its excellent transport links.  We are proud of our 300 year history but are also a friendly, forward-thinking school.

Although we are a large school, governors, staff, pupils and parents all work closely together which creates a warm, family atmosphere.  The children enjoy a wide variety of extra curriculum activities and sports are a particular strength of the school.

We are looking for someone who can inspire pupils and staff, with a good sense of humour, to lead and assess our teaching and learning.  We have a strong established senior leadership team and this post offers excellent CPD opportunities.

We would like to appoint someone who:

  • is supportive of our Christian values and ethos, with a clear vision and commitment to Christian education;
  • has a sound knowledge of all primary phases;
  • is a good communicator;
  • will take a leading role in curriculum development, assessment and behaviour management;
  • has a proven track record of raising standards of teaching and learning in their current school.

You will like working with us if you enjoy:

  • a caring family culture;
  • working with supportive staff, parents and governors;
  • being part of a dedicated senior leadership team;
  • leading activities with pupils which enrich learning;
  • helping children to realise their full potential.

If you are interested in learning more about our school, please come along to our informal Open Afternoon on Tuesday, 21st March, (see details below), or visit our website www.stedwardsva.net.  We have also attached an information pack for prospective candidates which contains more detailed information about the post and our school.

Informal Open Afternoon – Tuesday, 21st March 2017, 2.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m.

At our informal Open Afternoon, you will be able to have a tour of the school, meet the children and staff and enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake.  Please contact the Head Teacher’s PA, Mrs Jane Lomas (telephone: 01708 745971, email: contact@stedwardsva.net) if you would like to join us.
