Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Headteacher to replace our previous Deputy who has gained a headship.  The Governors seek to appoint an enthusiastic, inspirational and energetic Deputy Headteacher, who is an outstanding SEND Teacher and a leader with proven skills, able to share the values and vision of our school in an ever-changing educational landscape.  We are in the process of joining a Multi-Academy Trust and a very recent Ofsted inspection maintained our ‘good’ rating.

Baytree School caters for 67 pupils from 3-19 years with PMLD/Complex Needs, SLD and ASD.  We are co-located with Herons’ Moor Academy, a Primary School and Nursery.  We are dedicated to providing inclusive and personalised learning opportunities for all our pupils.  By using creative approaches that put our pupils at the heart of all we do, we seek to secure the very best outcomes for every young person.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have passion, vision and determination to inspire the teaching and support staff to deliver the highest levels of learning to meet the special education needs of the children and young people at Baytree School.
  • Have extensive classroom experience and in-depth knowledge of SEND and inter-disciplinary working, enabling pupils to make outstanding progress.
  • Be highly successful in supporting children in managing their emotions and challenging behaviour to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Be passionate about improving the life chances for all our pupils and their families.
  • Be an experienced team leader, able to motivate, challenge and inspire staff and pupils through excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work in partnership with the Headteacher and Governing Body to continue raising standards through a shared vision.
  • Be excited by the opportunity to join an enthusiastic and dedicated learning community.

Baytree School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The post is subject to a DBS Barred List and DBS Disclosure check, satisfactory references and medical clearance.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the school.  Please contact Issy Johnson, via the School Office, to arrange an appointment.

An application form and further details are available from, and should be returned to, Issy Johnson, Bursar, at the school.
