Winchelsea School is a 4 - 16 age special school for pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties including autism. From 1 September the school will also offer a satellite 16-19 provision in collaboration with Bournemouth & Poole College.

We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher who possess boundless enthusiasm and is passionate about making a difference and uplifting attainment. Winchelsea School is currently a community school and it is expected that you will play a significant role in shaping the future strategy and direction of the school. This is a rewarding role for an excellent teacher and leader with a genuine commitment to help transform the lives of our pupils.

Our new Deputy Headteacher will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and an exceptional leader with rounded people skills who will support staff to give of their absolute best. With extensive classroom experience, in-depth knowledge of SEND and experience of raising standards, you will lead by example and take a strategic role in the running of the whole school, with particular emphasis on but not restricted to: improvement of teaching and learning; the development of a curriculum to ensure our pupils receive a high quality education; strategic management and development of teaching and support staff, monitoring whole school data. You will also develop and lead a whole school strategy on the implementation and impact of pupil premium funding, monitoring its implementation and evaluating its effectiveness.

Possessing high personal standards, you will have vision, integrity, resilience, energy and emotional intelligence and a commitment to ensuring the school team functions to its optimum potential. Currently rated ‘good’ by Ofsted, it is intended that you will play a key role in supporting the school to become outstanding. In turn the school will offer you significant opportunities for personal development.
