Deputy Headteacher Quality of Education - Curriculum and Progress

Due to increasing student numbers, Brentwood County High School is on a journey of improvement and is seeking to appoint an experienced Deputy Headteacher. Following our “Good” Ofsted rating in June 2022, demand for places in Year 7 and Year 12 has been rising. In February 2024, we opened the final stage of our £27 million DFE heritage building project. This provides new state-of-the-art learning environments including new science, sporting, technology, and art facilities whilst also retaining the character of the original school buildings that date back over a century. 

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and dedicated leader to actively promote the quality of education within curriculum and progress of Brentwood County High School. The successful applicant will be an outstanding leader, who will have the ability to think strategically. As an effective team player, you will work within a diverse community of students’ parents, staff, Trustees and Senior Leaders. The core purpose of this role will be to take a lead in shaping the quality of education within curriculum and progress throughout the school, and to play a major role under the direction of the Headteacher in formulating the aims and objectives of the school.   

Some of the Key Responsibilities of this role include:  

• Managing staff and resources to achieve the aims and objectives of the school and monitor progress  
• Undertake the professional duties of the Deputy Headteacher reasonably delegated to you by the Headteacher and duties of the Headteacher, in the event of their absence from the school 
• In partnership with the Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team, provide professional leadership and management of quality of education throughout the school
