Our Primary Provision, in a standalone building, continues to improve providing a quality, nurturing educational placement for SEMH and ASC children offering a therapeutic support from THRIVE™ and  our on-site Barnardo’s Therapist. We also provide an excellent Family Support Programme.


We are looking to appoint a dynamic, passionate and committed Primary Deputy Headteacher to join our Senior Leadership Team and to help develop our outstanding curriculum, implement our vision and promote outstanding teaching and learning. The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. He/she will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour in the classroom.


The successful candidate will manage the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and drive academic performance, developing new approaches to maintain a nurturing environment. The ability to represent the school externally is essential: engaging with Ofsted and chairing annual educational healthcare plan reviews. Our new Deputy Headteacher will work in close partnership with the SLT at Belmont Primary School to achieve consistency of culture, achievement and service.


Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate experience and expertise in the following areas:

  • passionate with an interest in new methods of care, education and therapy
  • exceptional leadership, influencing and coaching skills
  • experience of working effectively with students with complex learning needs including ASC
  • a proven track record of raising standards through outstanding, inspirational and innovative practice
  • a proven long term track record of outstanding and inspirational teaching
  • can demonstrate a clear vision for raising standards through coaching and mentoring
  • a clear understanding of what constitutes outstanding teaching, learning and assessment and how this underpins school effectiveness 

  • an outstanding organiser, is proactive and has an ability to support effective teams
  • excellent interpersonal skills and qualities to lead and innovate whilst inspiring and motiving staff, children and parents.
  • a sound knowledge of OFSTED requirements, SEND Code of Practice and expectations relating to teaching and learning will be essential.
