There will be considerable development and leadership opportunities for the successful candidate. You will become a very welcome new member of our happy and successful team.

We believe that if children feel happy and safe, have fair and consistent discipline, and enjoy their learning, they will be successful. We place a strong commitment on developing the emotional literacy of every child. We aim to provide a stimulating learning environment, where children receive praise and clear guidance about what they have done well and what their next steps are. The successful candidate must be fully committed to supporting our ethos.

We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher who can engage pupils with a dynamic and exciting approach. You will have an excellent understanding of the primary curriculum (FS2, KS1 and KS2) and will be able to encourage pupils to achieve the best possible outcomes. We seek to recruit a Deputy Headteacher who has demonstrated that they are an outstanding teacher, who has the flexibility to teach in all phases, i.e. they will be an excellent role model for class teachers.

The Deputy Headteacher position will include three days a week non-teaching time. On two days a week the Deputy will teach throughout the school in order to monitor provision and provide non-contact time for colleagues. From time to time, the Deputy may also provide supply cover.

Key roles will be determined in line with the successful candidate’s strengths but are likely to include

 • line management for Teaching Assistants

  • ‘Champion’ for Disadvantaged Pupils (pupil premium)

  • Experience leading moderation of assessment and carrying out data analysis is desirable.

Old Sarum Primary is committed to Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and the successful candidate will be able to mentor students as they prepare to embark on their teaching career.
