Job overview

The Governors of this highly successful Catholic High School wish to appoint a Deputy Headteacher to raise academic outcomes. This is a fantastic opportunity for an inspirational and highly committed teacher to lead developments in this area and to help secure further school improvements.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a practising Catholic who is a successful and highly effective senior leader whose Catholic faith and vision will enable the school to build on its strong ethos and high standards.

We are looking for an ambitious leader who has the energy, charisma and intellect to inspire and command the respect of pupils, parents and staff. You will be responsible for raising academic outcomes for pupils across all Key Stages. Your role will also oversee all areas of data, curriculum, assessment and strategic developments in the Sixth Form.

Holy Family Catholic High School is well known for its high academic standards and the warmth of its working relationships. In November 2012, Ofsted judged the school to be good in all areas and our results at Key Stages 4 & 5 are consistently above the national averages. In 2015, our GCSE results placed us in the top five schools in Sefton.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Due to the nature of work this post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and relevant care/safeguarding legislation and appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Criminal Records Bureau. We welcome all applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.

Values and vision

Holy Family Catholic High School aims to be a high-achieving school that provides a great level of support and care to each child, to ensure they are given the self-belief and self-confidence to achieve their ambitions. It is a large enough school to provide students with a high number of opportunities and learning facilities, but small enough to be able to cater to each child’s needs and create a healthy working relationship between staff and students.

The mission of Holy Family is to help children develop as well-rounded individuals with a strong faith and empathy for others.

Ofsted report

“Students achieve well, particularly in Key Stages 4 and 5. As a result, they are well prepared for the next stages of their lives. The new headteacher is building well on a tradition of good leadership. He has quickly inspired the school to be ambitious for further improvement. As a consequence, members of the school community are very clear about what they need to do to achieve this.”
