Job overview

Khalsa Primary School is an outstanding school as inspected by Ofsted in 2011 and have a large waiting list for all year groups. The school was established in 2007 and is a Sikh faith school operating in a local area where there are many Sikh families. Twenty percent of school places have been prioritised for pupils from a non-Sikh background or for those who do not follow any faith. We are an all-inclusive school where teachers of many faiths inspire students to succeed.

The Governors are seeking to appoint an exceptional individual with a wealth of primary and leadership experience and evidence of leading the attainment of high standards in school(s). The Deputy Headteacher’s responsibilities include:

  • Working with and supporting the headteacher in determining the overall strategic direction of the school and making a significant contribution to the school’s development planning
  • Deputising for the headteacher in all aspects of her/his role in the absence of the headteacher.
  • Have direct responsibility for a specific age group of children within the school, to be agreed on appointment, including curriculum delivery, teacher performance and pupil performance.
  • Lead on quality of teaching and learning, as the leading classroom practitioner, to inspire and motivate teaching colleagues, setting rigorous targets to raise standards in pupil achievement

This post would particularly suit someone who has NPQH or the ambition to attain this qualification.
