Job overview

Individual Tuition Coordinator - Deputy

Inner London Main/Upper Pay Scale plus TLR 2 and SEN allowance

London East AP (LEAP) is an inner city, successful and high-achieving KS3, KS4 and Post-16 alternative provision located in Tower Hamlets.

One of the provisions we offer as part of our alternative provision school is individual tuition. This is meant to be a short to mid-term intervention to facilitate teaching and learning for pupils who are, for a variety of reasons such as mental and physical health, as well as safeguarding issues, unable to attend a mainstream setting or even the small group teaching groups we offer at LEAP.

We are seeking to appoint an Individual Tuition Coordinator Deputy to re-engage and support our most vulnerable students and raise the attainment of our most vulnerable and hardest to reach KS4 and Post-16 cohort.

The Deputy Individual Tuition Coordinator will be responsible to support the Individual Tuition Lead not only with providing a small number of pupils with individual tuition as and when required, but also with the day to day running of this provision, managing tutors, timetables, room allocations, meeting schedules and more.

Applicants will hold QTS and will preferably be English or Maths specialists (other subjects will be considered), ideally able to teach both subjects to GCSE standard, albeit to students who are struggling to access the curriculum and are likely to have learning needs as well as mental health needs. The successful applicant will be supporting our Individual Tuition Coordinator in ensuring our most vulnerable students are allocated an individual tuition tutor and liaise with parents, professionals and external agencies such as CAMHS, Children’s Social Care and the Youth Offending Team.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the aims, values and ethos of London East Alternative Provision and a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes for students with significant individual needs and whose previous experience of schooling has, for whatever reasons, not been wholly positive.

Those wishing to be considered for the role should complete an application form and return to Kathryn Ryan, School Business Manager, by Friday, 28th January 2022. Please be aware that we are unable to accept CVs.

We would welcome and encourage potential candidates to visit our schools. Please telephone or email to arrange this or for an application pack.

A candidate pack and application form is available from kathryn.ryan@londoneastap.org.uk, the School Business Manager.

-      Closing date for applications: Friday, 28th January 2022

- Shortlisting of applications: Monday, 31st January 2022

- Interviews: Friday, 4th February 2022

London East Alternative Provision is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to undergo safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure.
