Our setting is based in North End and provides pre-school and 0-5 childcare for not only our local community but for those further afield. We are on the New Horizons Primary School site and aim to provide children with an excellent quality of care and provision.

As a Deputy Manager, you will be supporting the Nursery Manager of the setting to lead and manage a team of childcare practitioners who are responsible for providing first class care to children within the local community, but also providing mentorship to colleagues at all levels in the absence of the Nursery Manager.


The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a minimum of a Level 3 NVQ in Childcare and experience in a room leader/Deputy role
  • Be an exceptional mentor with proven experience in assisting the development and implementation of strategies in current processes
  • Have a solid knowledge of the EYFS
  • A good working knowledge and experience of SEN practices, interventions, referral and writing reports such as the EHCP assessment request. 
  • Have an up-to-date Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene (full training provided if you do not possess those certificates)
  • Need a clear and valid DBS 
  • Be flexible with start and finishing times
  • Have impeccable interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively to colleagues of all levels of seniority


As part of your professional development, we expect all colleagues to undertake and continue their training, undergoing a relevant qualification to your position is paramount in order to broaden your knowledge and build upon your skills to help you in your role.  


Your Duties & Responsibilities will involve:

  • Responsible for overseeing and assisting specialists in the nursery, such as Behaviour management representatives, SENCo, 
  • Ensure that suitable opportunities, activities and resources are provided for all the children relevant to their age/stage and development needs to the requirements of external organisations.
  • Communicate with parents to ensure that all fees are paid and that parents are satisfied with the provision of care provided. You will also know how to operate a fees system including invoicing, collecting money, 
  • Ensure that all staff are supported in their training and development and their job satisfaction. Ensure that all staff are mentored /coached appropriately.
  • Support the Nursery Manager and to manage the setting in Managers absence
  • To be committed to the safeguarding of all children in the nursery and your direct care
