Job overview

After a highly successful career our current Deputy Principal will be retiring in December 2018. The Corporation are therefore looking for an exceptional senior leader to take responsibility for the strategic leadership of all aspects of teaching, learning, assessment, and curriculum design and quality management.

Situated in Taunton, the county town of Somerset, we are a diverse, financially secure and thriving Sixth Form College.  This is an extremely exciting time for us as we prepare for the next stage in our growth and development.  The demographic trends of the surrounding area indicate an increase in 16-19 student numbers well ahead of the national picture.  Along with ‘garden town’ status and an ambitious strategy for building development, the population and infrastructure of Taunton will drive Huish on a journey towards its place as one of the biggest and most diverse Sixth Form Colleges in the country.

At Huish we have a well-established set of values focused on working to ensure that all students achieve beyond their expectations through our provision of a broad holistic educational experience. With a diverse curriculum - including A Levels, vocational courses, apprenticeships and Higher Education - supporting all our students to achieve this ambition provides significant challenge.   The successful candidate for this position will be joining a very experienced and able senior leadership team who share and place high value on the collective benefits of working collaboratively to meet this challenge.

This is a high profile opportunity for an ambitious individual to join an outstanding College.  Innovative, and learner-focused, the successful candidate will bring an exceptional track record in the leadership and management of teaching and learning and curriculum development within education. Able to develop and expand on the strong Huish brand that already exists you will demonstrate experience of consistently driving up academic standards and delivering excellent outcomes.
