Job overview

AMBITION – COURAGE – EXCELLENCE

We are at a pivotal point in our history.  At our first inspection in October 2016 we were judged as being good in all areas.  With GCSE results improving year on year, we are determined to become an outstanding academy.

In 2019 we will be relocating a short distance away, to a brand new build, with cutting edge  facilities, including science and technology laboratories, performing arts centre and sports facilities, creating a vibrant and exciting learning environment.  This is part of a major regeneration of our town aimed at creating a vibrant place to live and work.

We feel privileged to be part of this transformational period for both the academy and community it serves, and are looking for a Deputy Principal who will share the beliefs and values our Academy holds.  Contributing to the strategic leadership and direction, you will take a lead on teaching, learning, assessment and curriculum, driving up standards and achievement across the Academy.

Working with a collaborative approach, you will have the skill set and ability to be inspirational and motivational to both staff and students, with a shared passion for delivering excellence in education.  We encourage and support staff to achieve their career aspirations, and commit to you, an opportunity for your own professional and personal development.

You are invited to visit Mill Chase Academy and discuss further this exciting opportunity with Mr Paul Hemmings, Principal.  To download a copy of the Information pack, including job profile and application form, please visit www.millchase.hants.sch.uk or unicat.org.uk/find-job.  To arrange a visit or call, please contact Corinne Tutton, PA to the Principal in the first instance on 01420 470329 or email c.tutton@millchase.hants.sch.uk

Closing Date: 9:00am Monday 16 October 2017 Selection Days: Thursday 19th and Friday 20th October 2017  We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

About Oakmoor School

Oakmoor School is a brand new, state of the art secondary school situated in a 22 acre tree lined site on the edge of the South Downs National Park.

We benefit from cutting edge technology throughout the site and the latest specialist equipment for key areas such as science, technology and performing arts. Our main buildings surround a central court yard which includes covered areas for outside dining and seating areas outside of the learning resource centre for reading at break and lunch times.

There is an abundance of green spaces which include several sports pitches, an athletics track, a nurture garden and a forest school area for outside learning and activities. The whole site is bordered by mature trees providing a relaxing and inspirational backdrop to our inspirational learning environment.

We are a very successful school where high levels of respect and conduct prevail. Our success shows that when you couple high quality pastoral care with high standards and expectations, young people are able to flourish and to achieve their very best.

Values and Vision

The Oakmoor ethos is encapsulated by our motto: Ambition, Courage, Excellence.  We are a friendly, vibrant school with high standards and expectations. We pride ourselves on knowing every young person as an individual and challenging each of them to have the highest possible aspirations.

Teachers aim to provide engaging lessons which are fun for all students.  Oakmoor School hopes pupils take advantage of the opportunities presented to them, including clubs and activities outside of the classroom.

Ofsted Report

In November 2021 Ofsted judged our school as "Good" in all categories.  The report recognised how talented and dedicated our teachers are and how well our students demonstrate positive attitudes to their learning and to all members of our school community.

We are continuing our journey to becoming an outstanding school in partnership with all local stakeholders, especially our parents and students.
