About the Role  

This is a significant and exciting senior appointment for the school. As Deputy Principal, you will be a key leader at Oasis Academy Coulsdon and will support the Principal with strategic leadership, management and outcomes and ensure long-term success through leadership growth and maximising potential.  As Deputy principal you will work with the Principal to lead the academy in a challenging but extremely rewarding environment.  

Oasis Academy Coulsdon is a secondary school in Coulsdon, Surrey, serving children aged 11-16. We are inclusive of all and are one family, dedicated to helping every student reach their potential and to our community. Our vision is for all our students to achieve excellence and a love of learning through rigour, resilience and passion. We are oversubscribed in all year groups and have a stable and dedicated staff team who are proud to work at the school.

We are looking for someone who is an outstanding classroom practitioner. Experience and expertise in leading safeguarding and culture will be desirable.  We seek a candidate who will be keen to empower everyone to reach their full potential in our fully inclusive school. 

As a high-profile individual within the academy, you will champion the academy ethos and culture, support and develop your leaders and empower their staff teams. As Deputy Principal you will work with passion, pace, clarity and determination to move the academy forward.    

Outward Facing  

In order to ensure that our students receive the education they deserve and that our staff are fully developed and supported, we are looking for someone who is outward facing and who is passionate about taking on this role, delivering exceptional education at the heart of community. You will be a figurehead within the community.  


Effective Support  

To develop you as a leader, you will enjoy the support and challenge of the Principal, as well as a  

Regional Director and wider OCL National Team. By being part of a family of 54 Oasis Academies, you will work alongside expert leaders in their field and benefit from a strong support network and partnership within the Croydon area. You will have many opportunities to share best practice and drive continual improvement, including an annual regional conference, Regional Improvement Networks and access to a growing CPD programme nationally. A deputy principal will also have the opportunity to complete an NPQ or receive professional coaching.

Oasis Academy Coulsdon is an 11-16 Academy located adjacent to Coulsdon Common on the edge of the village of Old Coulsdon in the borough of Croydon.

The Academy opened in September 2008, replacing predecessor school Coulsdon High School. Since then the Academy has undergone an extensive refurbishment, completed in November 2011, and we are extremely proud of our modern, light, and welcoming building; not to mention the vast and beautiful fields and grounds set next to beautiful woodland.

We are a fully comprehensive mixed gender school with a fantastic and diverse cohort of students who continue to make better than expected progress year after year; our current Progress 8 score is 0.37. We are rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Ofsted and have recently celebrated our best ever results.

As part of Oasis Community Learning we have a fantastic network of teachers across the country which we utilise to share best practice and constantly evolve our approach to what we do to ensure we are always providing our students with the best standard of education.
