Job overview

Oasis Academy Fir Vale - Everyone Learning Together

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity where you can help to change the lives of our children and our community?  We are seeking a passionate, motivated Deputy Principal to become part of the Senior Leadership team at our unique academy.

See the potential, make the difference!

Our ideal candidate

We are seeking an outstanding teacher with experience of successful primary school leadership.  As part of the senior leadership team you will have high expectations for all, be able to effectively apply a range of behaviour management techniques, demonstrate emotional resilience and be a champion of the Oasis ethos and 9 habits.

Our journey so far

Oasis Academy Fir Vale opened in September 2014 as a brand new purpose built Academy in the centre of the vibrant Fir Vale community in Sheffield. When full, the Academy will be a two form entry Primary School with 52 part time places available in Nursery. The Academy will expand year on year until full at 420 places. The academy is inclusive and was awarded the School of Sanctuary Award in 2018.  The Academy serves the whole community and has an ethos based on the right to respect, the right to be safe and the right to learn.   The development of an Academy hub is a priority to offer a variety of support to families and members of the local community. Oasis Academy Fir Vale benefits from being part of the Oasis northern region and particularly a Sheffield cluster.

Effective Support

By being part of 51 Oasis Academies, you will have the privilege of working alongside experienced leaders and will benefit from a strong support network and partnership within the North East region.  You will have many opportunities to develop and share best practice to drive continual improvement, including through regional improvement networks and access to a growing CPD programme nationally.

For an informal discussion about the role with the Principal, Helen Round, please contact the school office on 0114 201 2300 or e-mail recruitment@oasisfirvale.org

Oasis is committed to making a difference to the lives of the communities it works in, and as such you must show a willingness to demonstrate commitment to the values and behaviours, which flow from the Oasis ethos. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment and to undergo appropriate checks, including enhanced DBS checks. Oasis Academy Fir Vale - a community gathered together to grow and learn

Oasis Academy Fir Vale opened in September 2014 as a brand new purpose built academy in the centre of the vibrant Fir Vale community in Sheffield. When full, the academy will be a two form entry Primary School with 52 part time places available in Nursery. Currently there are approximately 300 children on roll across all year groups. The academy will expand year on year until full at 420 places.

Oasis Academy Fir Vale will be based in an area of Sheffield that has some of the highest levels of childhood poverty in the city and where free school meals average 34%. Other Primary schools in the area experience around 30% turnover in pupils each year. Around one fifth of residents are black or minority ethnic and there is a significantly high proportion of Roma Slovak families in the area. Currently approximately 79% of pupils attending the Academy are Roma.

The vision for the Academy is to be an inclusive school where every child is given the best possible opportunities in order to reach their full potential. The Academy serves the whole community and has an ethos based on the belief that all pupils, regardless of background or ability have a sense of aspiration, self-belief, justice and respect for community and one another. The development of an Academy hub is seen as a priority. This will offer a variety of support to families and members of the local community.

Oasis Academy Fir Vale is part of the Oasis Community Learning family, a family of Academies established in 2004 with the express purpose of transforming learning, lives and communities through the development of Oasis Academies. Currently there are 44 Academies in the Oasis family across primary, secondary and post 16 phases.
