Deputy SENDCO & Assistant Leader of Specialist Intervention

TLR2c

Millais is an Outstanding (Ofsted 2014) 11-16 girls’ comprehensive in which the students are eager to learn and expect to be challenged in all areas of the curriculum.

We require a successful and enthusiastic teacher of SEND to become our Deputy SENDCO & Assistant Leader of Specialist Intervention. You will have a proven track record in SEND with the qualities, skills and experience of an aspiring middle leader.

As Deputy SENDCO you will work within a highly successful SEND team which will include the SENDCO, specialist teachers and a large group of highly skilled learning support assistants and you will be expected to assist in the leadership of teaching & learning across the curriculum.

The role will offer significant leadership development opportunities within the school and across our Teaching School Alliance. You will either hold the SENDCO qualification or be prepared to qualify within three years of acquiring the role. Together with the middle and senior leaders, you will oversee the effective implementation of all intervention strategies to support SEND students across the whole school.

This is an exciting and broad ranging role which is central to the future success of the school as we strive for excellence in all areas of work. We believe it is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring middle leader who is keen to broaden their experience and expertise at a whole school level, in readiness for progression to a more senior position in the future.

The successful applicant will

• be an outstanding teacher

• have the ability to develop a team that ‘leads’ the field in innovative practice and maximises achievement for all

• have a passion for SEND and a commitment to the enhancement of their learning experience

• have a track record of achieving excellent results based on exceptional student progress

• have the potential to play a leading in development of whole school teaching & learning for SEND

In return we will offer you the opportunity to develop your leadership potential working with highly motivated students and colleagues in a supportive and stimulating professional environment. If you would relish the challenge then we would welcome your application.

Millais is committed to the safeguarding of children, and a DBS police check will be made on the successful applicant.
