Job overview

We are seeking a caring and ambitious Deputy SENDCo to further strengthen our dedicated team of experienced SEND team, to provide high quality academic and pastoral support to our children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities.  With 31 children in our school having an EHCP and 149 assessed as SEN K this is an important and exciting role that will make a genuine difference to the lives of children!  This position appeals to a suitably qualified teacher with either primary or secondary experience.

 About the school

As one of six secondary schools within the ‘Coast’ region within The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT), we take pride in our geographic location and in our role as a ‘community’ secondary school.  With a current and growing role of 566  students (Years 7-11), we are a vibrant and diverse community with high expectations for all our pupils. Judged to be a ‘good’ school by Ofsted in June 2015 and again in December 2018, our vision is for every member of our school community to be successful academically, socially and morally.  We aim to provide a high quality, inclusive education ensuring that every student has the opportunity to fulfil their maximum potential.  Our curriculum is built upon a strong academic GCSE core and delivered through creative and engaging teaching.

 Vision and Values

Havant is an Academy at the heart of its community that aspires to inspire learners and change their lives for the better.  The Academy Values are described as ‘Work Hard, Be Kind, No Excuses’.  A three year vision is in place for students, staff and parents as shown below:

As part of The Kemnal Academies Trust, we have access to the expertise, support and opportunities offered by one of the larger multi-academy trusts in the country. Our staff are dedicated to improving the lives of our students and, unusually, regardless of seniority, every teacher teaches. In this way, all our staff maintain the highest possible standards with regards to subject knowledge and the challenges of the changing secondary curriculum.
