St. Gregory’s Catholic High School seeks to appoint a Deputy SENDCo to work within our thriving and popular SEND department and as part of a high quality, committed SEND team.

The Deputy SENDCo will support the SENDCo and will be required to work closely with the wider pastoral team, class teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure that all pupils are receiving the support they need to be successful at St Gregory’s Catholic High School.

The Deputy SENCO will promote the progress and achievement of SEND students throughout the school. This role will be child-focused and will ensure high standards and expectations for both SEND pupils and staff. The successful applicant will have a key focus of testing pupils for Access Arrangements and annual training and certification will be a necessary part of this commitment.

There is a minimal teaching allocation commitment with the role, around 6 hours per week depending on timetabling needs as the majority of your time will be spent implementing strategies to support children with SEND, training staff and developing our wonderful ‘SEND HUB’ which is at the heart of our school community.

In return you will get the outstanding opportunity to develop your career in a wonderful family community alongside supportive colleagues in a calm and purposeful environment where the pupils have a love for learning.

Behaviour and attendance is excellent at St Gregory’s. Our most recent examination performance from summer 2024 produced another outstanding progress 8 score of +0.32. Our average P8 score is +0.25 over the past 3 years.

St Gregory’s is proud to be graded as an ‘Outstanding’ school in our Catholic Schools (section 48) inspection and graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted in our recent July 2024 inspection. We encourage you to read our inspection reports by clicking on the links below:

Values and vision

The mission statement of St Gregory’s reads: “This is our God, the servant King. He calls us now to follow him.” The school’s prayer is: “Inspire us to build a community based on love and respect. May we be empowered to challenge injustice every day. Help us to value and support each other to create a positive Learning environment where all may serve. Amen.”

The staff, parents, governors and students of St. Gregory’s Catholic High School aim to work in partnership to create a vibrant community in which all are valued. At the core of school life is a belief that there is no better inspiration than the example and teaching of Jesus Christ.

The school community seeks to set an example of service, inspired by Jesus, and in doing so fulfil the aspirations that it has for each of its pupils, and to foster their spiritual, academic and personal development.

Ofsted
