Job overview

A resident Deputy Senior House Parent with relevant experience is sought to assist the Senior House Parent in the management of girls’ boarding from April 2020.  Hours will be 37 - 40 hpw, term time only, + 5 training days throughout the year.

The successful candidate will be determined to provide the highest levels of care for our boarders in all aspects of their school lives.

The role will involve the welfare of approximately 50 girls, aged from 11-18, and working with the team of boarding house staff who care for them.  The Deputy Senior House Parent also undertakes evening supervision and weekend duties on a rota basis.

Ripon Grammar School is Yorkshire’s only state run boarding school, located in the cathedral city of Ripon, close to the North Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Dales.  Accommodation, consisting of a one bedroom apartment, is available for the successful applicant, and is situated in 23 acres of school grounds. A small rent is charged for this accommodation and meals are provided when on duty.

A Sense of Place 

Ripon Grammar School has been a place of learning since its re-foundation in 1555 but records suggest that the school can trace its origins back to at least the 14th Century.  While rooted in tradition, we are very much a forward looking school.  ‘Helping shape the future’ is our unofficial motto. As a maintained, selective, co-educational boarding and day school, Ripon Grammar School holds membership of a small group of schools in the country.
