Job overview

Here’s the standard bit: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our existing pastoral team in working alongside curriculum and other members of the Progress and Welfare Team to co-ordinate effective mental health and wellbeing support across college. You will enhance wellbeing by; supporting college wide staff and the Progress and Welfare team in supporting students through networks, training, resources and access to external support. You will pro-actively promote the mental health and wellbeing of students throughout the college and develop effective systems to monitor external referrals and any associated processes and procedures.

What you’ll need:You will co-ordinate support provided by external partners, support staff in managing students with significant mental health needs (risk assessments and fitness to study) and support incident management. You will also co-ordinate and deliver mental health awareness, training and events. Ability to use and develop data monitoring systems is also essential for this role.

You will have a sound understanding and a proven track record in supporting students with mental health and wellbeing and be skilled in communicating with students, parents and carers in varied and challenging situations. You will pro-actively promote the safety and wellbeing of students throughout the college acting as the student’s advocate in line with college values. An understanding of local mental health provision and referral mechanisms would be advantageous for this role.

Tameside College is a coeducational further education establishment. It is situated in the town of Ashton-under-Lyne, in Lancashire. It gives students a range of qualifications to choose from.
