Job overview
West Buckland School are seeking a part-time enthusiastic and dedicated Design and Technology teacher to join our thriving department. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students across a wide age range, from Year 7 through to A-Level, and to contribute to a dynamic and forward-thinking team.
The Design and Technology Department is a well-established and vibrant part of the school, currently comprising two teaching staff and a technician. We are committed to delivering a high-quality education that fosters creativity, problem-solving, and technical skills. We offer the following examination courses:
· CIE IGCSE Design and Technology (Resistant Materials) in Years 10 and 11
· AQA A-Level Product Design in the Sixth Form.
These courses are popular among students, with typically two GCSE classes and one A-Level group in each year group. Additionally, a subject specialist delivers engaging lessons to students in the Prep School.
The department runs a variety of extracurricular clubs throughout the week. These sessions provide opportunities for students in Years 7–9 to develop their practical skills, while students in Years 10–13 can use the time to work on coursework and personal projects.
We are especially proud of our success in the Greenpower Electric Car Challenge, where our student team—spanning Years 7 to 11—has reached the international finals at Goodwood. This initiative is led by the Design and Technology staff and takes place during lunchtimes.
