Design & Technology Teacher (Full or Part-time) including TLR

St Mary's Catholic SchoolHertfordshire

Are you passionate about Design and Technology? Are you looking for a departmental or pastoral leadership role?

Would you like to start, or develop you career further, in a forward thinking and professional team, in newly developed £750k facilities?

We seek a committed and enthusiastic DT teacher, in any discipline, to teach across the Key Stages and ability range. TLR will be available depending on skills and experience.

At St. Mary’s, the DT Department offer a range of subjects including Food & Nutrition, Resistant Materials and Textiles. The department will be moving into new purpose-designed accommodation in September 2021 and so this is an even more exciting time to join this friendly and supportive team.

We offer a comprehensive training package for NQTs and early career teachers, and personalised CPD for more experienced practitioners. DT is popular subject at GCSE and at A Level with students every year choosing to continue to University, apprenticeships or employment.

Working at St. Mary’s is an extraordinary opportunity.  Our Surveys this year showed that 96% of staff enjoy their work at St Mary's, 97% agree that leaders do all they can to ensure a motivated and respected staff, 100% of students enjoy their learning and believe that behaviour around the school is good, and 97% of parents would recommend St. Mary’s to other parents.  We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers.

Added to this, the school is also at an extremely exciting juncture in its future.  Demand is high, and owing to intense oversubscription, we will be 5 years through expansion to 6FE, with an extra-ordinary 7FE in Sept 2021.  We have also won over £7m in capital bids in the last 4 years and are enjoying brand new cutting edge facilities as a result.  The school faces an extremely strong and positive financial future.

Our previous OFSTED inspection judged us as Outstanding in every category, and our most recent S48 Inspection (2018) also judged us as Outstanding in every area.  Over the last 4 years, exam results have risen at both GCSE & A Level.  The ‘Progress 8’ score for 2018 was +0.61, which puts the school in the top 10% in the country, and the 2019 also placed us ‘above average’.  At A Level the proportion of A*-B Grades as well as students enrolling at elite Russell Group Universities has risen significantly over each of the last 5 years, with a number of students holding acceptances to Oxbridge for September 2021.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants.  St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.
