We are looking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Design and Technology teacher to join our DT department from September 2018. Suitable candidates will be able to teach their subject to ‘A’ level standard.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high quality lessons that engage and challenge all students. They should have high standards and expectations in all elements of their work.
They should be a committed team player who is ready to support the department in the next phase of our development.
This post is suitable for Newly Qualified Teachers.
Qatar International School is a 3-18 international school that operates a British system of Education based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales.

The post requires all successful applicants to have recent experience of delivering the National Curriculum in the British System, preferably with a minimum of two years.

The Design Technology Department
We are an increasingly expanding and popular department. There are two well-equipped workshops and one design computer suite within the department. We offer a varied and engaging KS3 curriculum that includes textiles, graphics and resistant materials projects, designed for the British curriculum. Students undertaking IGCSE currently have the option of taking either Graphic Products or Resistant Materials, through the Cambridge International Examinations board. AS and A-level students undertake Product Design through the Edexcel Examination board.
In recent years, we have celebrated excellent results and achievements within the department. CIE have presented our students with certificates for the top exam score in Qatar for IGCSE, three out of the last five years. We offer an open door policy to IGSCE and AS / A-level students to enable them to utilise and make the most of the department facilities outside of timetable lessons. Many of our students successfully undertake further education following a career in Design. We would encourage any new members of our team to assist us with continuing to support and enrich our student’s education, with extra- curricular opportunities.
The Location
Doha is the capital city and central focus of Qatar. The city has a large proportion of expats and as a result is extremely diverse.
Qatar offers a warm, sunny climate throughout the year.
Expats can visit the souqs for spices and traditional clothing, enjoy local food and drinks in the streets. There are various modern malls throughout the city.
There are also many modern areas in Doha to visit in the evenings including international restaurants offering excellent food.
The Package
- Teaching salary paid in Qatari Riyals.
- This equates to a yearly tax-free salary dependent on exchange rate and teaching experience.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must be UK qualified teachers with a relevant teaching qualification including QTS. Experience of teaching a British curriculum is essential including a proven track record of supporting students through their IGCSE and A-Level exams at Secondary level. The school can consider applications from strong Newly Qualified Teachers.

Qatar International School is a British International private school located in Doha, the capital city of the State of Qatar. The school follows the latest National Curriculum of England and Wales for students ranging between 3 and 18 years of age.

These include science laboratories, ICT suites, a swimming pool, playing fields, and a large sports hall.
Our student body is truly international, with over 60 different nationalities represented within the current cohort.
