Design and Technology Teacher (Start: August 2022)

The British School Kathmandu is a not-for-profit and a non-selective school, which has a rich history of educational excellence, compassion, and kindness stretching over 55 years in Nepal. The British School Kathmandu currently educates around 550 students from ages 3-18 from over 40 different countries, from both local and expatriate families, who trust us to care for and educate their children. Our students achieve excellent results, consistently well above UK averages, but more importantly, they are kind and a delight to teach. 

Set within a leafy campus in Lalitpur, Kathmandu, the Art, Design and Technology Department is a small, well organised and popular department with close working links to other departments. The department delivers Cambridge International and Edexcel examinations at IGCSE, AS and A Level. 

We are looking for an outstanding and experienced Teacher of Design and Technology from August 2022, to be responsible for the curriculum development and academic attainment of the students within the department.  

The ideal candidate will:   

  • Be a highly effective classroom practitioner  
  • Establish and maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment that abides by the highest international standards in safety in DT  
  • Showcase and raise the profile of Design and Technology, including the support of the options processes for IGCSEs and A Levels  
  • Have a passion for the teaching of Design and Technology and share this enthusiasm with colleagues and students  
  • Have the ability to plan and deliver innovative DT schemes of work and lessons to meet the needs of all learners, challenging them to make continuous improvement  
  • Have a willingness to contribute to the vibrant school life through the delivery of extracurricular classes, links with primary, development of STEM, and/or offering additional skills that will support our school  
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Art, Design, and Technology Department in establishing a clear, shared vision and ethos for DT.

The school is a founding member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) and a  fully accredited member of the Confederation of British International Schools (COBIS).
