At Holy Trinity our mission is to be a centre of excellence for learning inspired by Christian values where young people fulfil their potential

The Governors wish to appoint a dynamic, forward looking candidate to the post of Design and Technology teacher. This is a great opportunity to join a successful department, and to develop your career in a good school.

The Design and Technology Department has excellent facilities for the teaching of Design and Technology with purpose built rooms for Electronics, Graphics, and Textiles, a CAD room as well as two workshop areas set up for the teaching of Timber and Metals / Polymers. Teachers are well support by a team of technicians.

You need to demonstrate your commitment to the teaching of Design and Technology. We require a practitioner who has the enthusiasm, skill and ability to make a positive contribution to this motivated and successful team. You will be committed to teaching across the 11-18 range. Students commence their study of Design and Technology in year 7 covering the materials specialist areas of Electronics, Food, Timber and Graphics (including CAD, Polymers, Paper and Boards). In Yr9 the students have the opportunity to specialise more deeply and study two material areas. In the summer of Year 9, GCSE options have been completed and these courses commence in June. Design and Technology is an established and popular subject. We currently have GCSE groups running in Systems, Timber, Textiles and Food and continue to look at relevant courses to extend our curriculum choice. Experience of, or the ability to teach to Level 3 would also be an asset. We have an established A level course in Design and Technology as well as Textiles and Fashion. The successful candidate would ideally be able to offer a second material area preferably within the compass of Design and Technology. Applicants will need to evidence their commitment to excellent teaching and learning; to securing good or better outcomes for students; to developing student potential and skills from KS3 onwards, and to promoting the study of the subject at Level 2/3.

In addition to teaching your primary subject across ages 11 to 18 there is an expectation that you teach other subjects as directed in order to facilitate the delivery of the curriculum. Relevant support will be offered.

We offer a starting salary of £24,018 (M1) and further salary progression in line with the school’s policies on Pay and Professional Development & Review; a comprehensive induction and a good programme of CPL; a mentoring programme with structured support for NQTs. We also operate an extensive coaching network to share good practice and we engage all teaching staff in the TEEP programme to enhance our teaching and learning in the classroom.  We support, empower and challenge staff to make a real difference in raising standards and have many examples of staff that have fast-tracked their career.

We are seeking a candidate who will commit to upholding our values and ethos as a faith school; however, applicants do not need to be a practising Christian.

This is an excellent Church of England Voluntary Aided 11-18 mixed Comprehensive School where we pride ourselves in the pastoral care and development of all students. The post offers an unmissable opportunity for candidates wishing to make a positive impact on student and team progress, and who are able to provide innovative ideas to achieve this goal.
