Design and Technology Technician-Aug 2022

Arcadia School is seeking a dedicated, well-skilled and pragmatic Design Technology Technician to join a growing programme leading into GCSE and A Level. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day running of both the preparation spaces and classrooms, keeping an accurate account of stock, processing orders, maintaining machinery, supervising and supporting lessons and showing initiative in supporting school wide projects, such as display work, set-design and installations. The post will suit a candidate with qualifications relevant to design, but also an individual who has a strong understanding of complex equipment and machinery.

Job Description

- Preparation of DT materials for lessons as per department head and DT teachers

- Responsible for keeping a record on the amount of stock and arranging stock room

- Able to print and cut work given by DT teachers, using the 3D Printer and Laser Cutter independently

- Testing and maintenance of all tools, equipment and machinery in all DT labs

- Complete regular risk assessments for all tools, equipment and machinery in all DT labs

- Work with groups/individual students on specific tasks during lesson time, instructions will be given by DT teachers

- To supervise cover lessons when DT teachers are away, to ensure safe work is taking place and instructions are clear

- Help and prepare example work for teachers and support during lesson time

Qualifications

- Minimum of High School or A levels completion. Degree or equivalent professional qualification will be an advantage. 

- 2 years of experience in a British curriculum school

- Experience of use of Design and Technology related tools, equipment and machinery

- Ability to work well with a diverse team

- Local contract with school holidays
