We have a permanent Design and Technology Technician vacancy commencing in January 2019 or sooner subject to clearances.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our outstanding, outward looking, oversubscribed school. We are looking for a suitably experienced individual to provide technical curriculum support to the Design and Technology Departments.

Previous school experience is not essential but would be advantageous. The postholder will work under the direction of the Head of Department and class teacher, dividing their time between the subject areas to meet priority needs. 


The post holder will: 

· have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities

· have a good understanding of health and safety and COSHH regulations in relation to both Design and Technology, and Food.

· be organised and be able to plan and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines

· be friendly, professional, able to communicate effectively and build effective working relationships with both students and staff

· have the Food Safety Level 2 qualification or be willing and able to attain this if we see it as a priority as our courses develop.

· have a conscientious and diligent work ethic

· be competent in the use of IT for online ordering, etc.

· demonstrate personal resilience and role model those personal qualities we wish to instill in our young people

· demonstrate personal integrity and professionalism

· be willing to work flexibly to meet the demands of a continuously improving department. 

· the postholder would have limited flexibility with working hours and would be required to assist with after-school events and on occasions other commitments beyond the usual working day, recognising the variable nature of workloads and deadlines. It must also be noted that the Academy strongly recognises the fundamental importance of a private and family life, and of adequate rest and recreation.
