Job overview

 he Role

Bodmin College seeks to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and creative practitioner with excellent teaching skills.

The successful candidate will be required to teach Design Technology across the key stages and have a particular interest/experience in teaching Product Design.

The Department

The Bodmin College Technology department is a forward thinking and challenge driven faculty that encompasses Product Design, Graphic Products, Textile Design and Catering.  During the recent past we have focused on the development and improvement of the KS3 curriculum allowing students to gain a wide range of skills and experiences in preparation for the transition to GCSE.

At Bodmin College we provide our students with a two year KS3 in which they work through a traditional carousel style education. This is followed by a three year KS4. As Technology subjects are optional at KS4 students visit the subject for three, 100 minute lessons over the fortnightly rotation.  We also provide our students with a range of BTEC options at KS5 to help students build dynamic portfolios in preparation for further education.

As a department of eight we can offer an exciting and creative learning environment both for staff and students, and are looking for someone to join with a passion and flair for the subject and a drive to move it forward.

Annual trips and an extensive range of extra curricular activities are also used to open the eyes of our students; success in local and national competitions also helps to embed the department’s positive ethos.

As a growing department we aim to continue to raise the aspirations of our students, with proposals to expand our sixth form offer in the coming years we are looking for a candidate that can teach all the way from 11-18years, a variety of backgrounds and skills sets will be considered.
