Are you passionate about transforming the life chances of young people? Do you want to develop your career with one of the UK’s leading providers of specialist education? Then join Rossendale School in Ramsbottom and we can promise you a role of exceptional variety, influence and potential.

Currently we provide a first-class education for up to 74 young people between the ages of 8 and 18 who display social, emotional and mental health difficulties and whose learning may be affected by an Autism Spectrum Disorder. We also offer residential support for up to 12 young people, which has been judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted for the past ten years. Our goal is simple: to help each of our students prepare for adulthood, never losing sight of what they can achieve.

You will belong to a multidisciplinary team of colleagues who are successfully delivering a comprehensive curriculum. At Key Stage 4, we offer up to 13 GCSE subjects, iGCSE in Further Maths and English, BTEC Awards in four subjects, and three Functional Skills and Entry Level in five subject areas. As our Design Technology Teacher, you will be adding a developing subject to the curriculum. This will involve working under the direction of one of our Assistant Headteachers to respond to the changing needs of our pupils, using your expertise to prepare and enter them for appropriate external examinations. Developing Individual Educational Plans that address the special education needs of each pupil will, of course, be a vital aspect of your role.

In addition to holding a relevant teaching qualification, you will have successful track record of teaching design and technology to examination level in a mainstream setting. Experience of working in a specialist school is not essential as we run our own extensive training programme.

Attractive rewards, ongoing professional development and collaborative teamwork are all part of the package – and the prospects are everything you would expect from a school belonging to the growing Priory Education and Children’s Services.

To discover more and apply online, please visit our careers website today. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an informal Interview Day on Thursday 25th May and – if successful at this stage – a formal interview on Friday 26th May.
